ΦΑΟS: Made In Bright Sunshine

What is Greece without its sunlight?

And what is this blessed sunlight without sunglasses? These are the questions we have pondered for over 30 years in the industry. In the summer of 2022, we decided to address this need by creating FAOS —the most creative and colorful Greek sunglass brand.

FAOS designs and manufactures all its products in Greece, not only to support the local economy but also to ensure that every detail—the box, the case, and the cleaning cloth—embodies the local lifestyle as much as possible. We began by naming our first collections after our world-renowned and beloved islands.

But the connection goes deeper. The lifestyle, architectural philosophy, and colors of each island directly inspire the shape and color palette of each model. For instance, one of our first models, Icaria, features boldly sharp front-end tips to resemble the wings of Icarus—the mythical figure whose wax wings melted when he flew too close to the sun. Similarly, the island of Mykonos inspired a gender-neutral design that fits both young and old, offering the widest variety of colors and light-tinted lenses—perfect for sunset and dawn parties.

So why “Faos”?

The connection is clear and meaningful. Faos is the ancient Greek word for “light.” The sun is one of Greece’s most iconic features, and its Faos creates beauty in everything it touches. From historical landmarks to crystal-clear seas, everything shines brighter under the Mediterranean sun.

Our sunglasses serve a purpose: to bring the Greek sunlight to the world
